New Smith River Fire Station
Construction of the structural aspects of the new fire station is expected to be completed in late fall of this year.
Proposed Annexation of 73 Parcels
On September 30, 2024, the Del Norte County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo), will hold a public hearing at 4:00PM or as soon after that time as the agenda allows. The hearing will be held at the Flynn Center, Supervisors’ Chambers, 981 H Street, Crescent City, CA 95531.
Rowdy Creek Fire - July 31, 2021
Smith River Fire responded to a report of a vegetation fire at MPM 9 on Low Divide Road, Saturday afternoon July 31, 2021 at 3:37PM. The fire was ultimately reported as 16 acres, and was contained later that afternoon.
SRFPD was first on scene, and one of the new “Type 6” engines, A-9267, was the first to flow water.
We are thankful for the US Forest Service, CalFire, Fort Dick Fire, Crescent Fire and Rescue, Gasquet Fire, Alder Camp, and Pelican Bay SP fire crews. CalFire provided quite an air show in the effort to contain this wild land fire.
2nd UPDATE: Fire and Emergency Medical Responses to continue on sovereign tribal lands. Agreement was reached on April 29, 2021.
